I heart this: Valentines Day
Everyone always has something bad to say about Valentine’s Day and you know what I have to say about that? Piss Off.
I LOVE Valentines Day. I’ve always loved Valentines Day. And I’m not one of those weird people who’ve had a valentine since the beginning of time. In fact Steve has been my one and only Valentine. I’ve never been with anyone else on Valentine’s Day.
I don’t see how people can be so bitter about a day that is about expressing love. No one said you had to be dating someone. You can tell your BFF that you love her. Or your Mom. Or your dog. Or your cat. I don’t care who. Just tell them.
“But we should be expressing our love everydayyyyyy”
Well you know what, we don’t. We don’t tell the people we love that we love them nearly often enough. Come on. Be real. Maybe you tell your partner that you do but how often do you do nice things for others. So what if there’s a holiday that says, “Hey, just a little reminder. You should tell people you love them more.” I’m not talking flower, candy or diamonds. I just talking about a quick note. A quirky card to make them giggle. Whatever they like. It never hurts to spread a little love and cheer. It can only make the world better.

Then don’t buy a card! Go make one. Or buy one from a local artist. No one said you had to be cliché. It’s not like there’s a Valentine’s Day rule book that says, “You must buy a box of chocolates, flowers, a card from hallmark, a fancy dinner and of course, some sort of jewelery. If you don’t, you’re a bad person.” THAT DOES NOT EXIST.
So just stop with the angry/bitter/asshole/I’m-better-then-this-holiday routine because you know what? It’s freaking old. You’re not 16 years old anymore. Get over it. Call your Mom, tell her you love her and for goodness sake, cut your hair.
